KAREN L. STEEN, MA, LPC-S
I received my Masterís Degree from McNeese State University in 2003 and am a Licensed Professional Counselor with more than 17 years experience helping people. I have experience working with individuals, couples, families, adults and adolescents on a variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship issues, affair recovery, anger management, trauma issues, grief issues, parenting issues, employment issues and stress. I am also an LPC Supervisor certified by the Louisiana LPC Board to supervise Provisional Licensed Professional Counselors working towards licensure.
My belief is that therapy begins with compassion and with a nonjudgmental, genuine respect for my clients. I see them each as unique individuals with their own experiences, struggles and journeys. I consider it a privilege to be able to work with clients who are courageous enough to come to counseling during some of the most difficult, confusing or painful times of their lives. I believe that no struggle is trivial when it is negatively affecting the quality of someoneís life. My goal is to help clients resolve their problems, challenges and concerns so that they can lead a happier, healthier, more productive life. I use a variety of therapies with my clients and tailor treatment to each person based on what will be the most helpful. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Anthetic Relationship Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing as well as many other types of therapeutic practices to fit each clientís individual beliefs and needs.
