KAREN L. STEEN, MA, LPC-S
Karen Steen received her Masterís Degree from McNeese State University in 2003 and is a Licensed Professional Counselor with more than 10 years experience helping clients. She has experience working with individuals, couples, families, adults and adolescents on a variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship issues, affair recovery, anger management, trauma issues, grief issues, parenting issues, employment issues and stress. Karen is also an LPC Supervisor certified by the Louisiana LPC Board to supervise Counselor Interns working towards licensure.
Karenís belief is that therapy begins with compassion and with a nonjudgmental, genuine respect for her clients. She sees them each as unique individuals with their own experiences, struggles and journeys. Karen considers it a privilege to be able to work with clients who are courageous enough to come to counseling during some of the most difficult, confusing or painful times of their lives. She believes that no struggle is trivial when it is negatively affecting the quality of someoneís life. Karenís goal is to help clients resolve their problems, challenges and concerns so that they can lead a happier, healthier, more productive life. Karen utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Anthetic Relationship Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing as well as many other types of therapeutic practices to fit each clientís individual beliefs and needs.
